Maintaining your Sexual Health with Vitamins & Supplements

February 9, 2010

Sexual health is a broad term encompassing both the physical and psychological aspects of a healthy sexual relationship. Since sexuality is a big part of the adult human lifestyle, love, affection and sexual intimacy all play a role in healthy relationships. They also contribute to your sense of well-being. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence.

A number of disorders and diseases can affect the ability to have or enjoy sex, including erectile dysfunction, female sexual problems, sexually transmitted diseases, reproductive problems and cancer. Sexual health issues and concerns such as birth control options, impotence, infertility or fear of unplanned pregnancy can also play a role.

Sexual health also includes staying sexually healthy, women’s and men’s emotional sexual health concerns, and achieving a satisfying sexual relationship with a partner can help you have a positive sexual experience. Energy and stamina are key in satisfying your sexual partner and achieving lasting intimacy with that person.

It is important for men to maintain normal testosterone levels and healthy sperm production in order to keep his sexual drive alive and be ready to pursue a sexual relationship with a woman when the time presents itself. Women need to maintain normal ovulation cycles and balanced estrogen levels to insure they will feel sexual desire and respond sexually to their mate when sexual activity comes into play.

Vitamins and supplements can help you maintain your sexual health. Nature provides minerals, herbs and natural remedies to encourage unity between couples. They can help treat erectile dysfunction and male and female impotency.

Mucuna Pruriens Increases Sexual Desire in Men and Women

January 29, 2010

Mucuna Pruriens is commonly known as cowhage (Latin) and kiwanch (Sanskrit). Traditionally, Mucuna pruriens find use in number of diseases and is commonly used as carminative, hypotensive & hypoglycemic agent. From phytochemistry point of view, the drug contains L-dopa, tryptamine alkaloids, lecithin and tannins.

Traditionally Macuna Pruriens has been used to increase sexual desire and ability, The seeds of the mucuna pruriens plant produce chemicals that support healthy levels of testosterone in both men and women. It also aids in the production of a hormone commonly associated with the “pleasure system” of the brain, providing feelings of enjoyment and motivation.

L-Dopa is an amino acid that converts into dopamine. Dopamine is an essential component of our body and it’s required for proper functioning of the brain. Research discovered the body converts the amino acid tyrosine into L-dopa; L-dopa is then converted into dopamine. Without the neurotransmitter dopamine to serve a damping effect on neural transmissions, muscles become tense and tremble.

L- Dopa contains natural secretagogues which may support the body’s ability to stimulate the natural release of growth hormone. The blood carries the dopamine into the brain, where it naturally increases HGH production from the pituitary gland. The increased dopamine levels also optimize the production of other hormones, including testosterone, leading to increased sex drive and improved sexual performance for both men and women, beneficial in stimulating muscle growth, as well as burning fat from fat cells.
